Orange Shirt Day - Truth and Reconciliation Day, September 30

We are encouraging all members of our school community to wear Orange Shirts on Wednesday, September 29th, as we recognize and honour members of our Indigenous community, especially those who have been impacted by residential schools.  On Thursday, September 30th, schools will be closed for our first Truth and Reconciliation Day.   This day provides an opportunity for all Canadians to recognize and commemorate the legacy of residential schools. This may present itself as a day of quiet reflection or participation in a community event. Schools in our district will be engaged in a variety of activities leading up to September 30th to ensure that students understand the significance of this day in our community and in our nation.
