Welcome Information for the First Week of School at Tomsett

We are looking forward to another amazing year of learning at Tomsett! We hope you are looking forward to a wonderful summer break ahead, making memories with family and friends. We are excited to see all our students this coming September and hear about their summer adventures!

Here is some key information to help you prepare for a smooth and happy first week back:

First Day of School Students Grade 1 - Grade 7

Our first day back for all students is Tuesday, September 8th, and it's a short day!

• Time: 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
• Where to Go: Please go to your old classes. We will have signage up and maps posted on our website in the week before school starts. 
• What to Expect: attendance and connecting time.

First day of school for kindergarten students 

• Group A    9:00 am – 10:00 am 
• Group B     1:00 pm – 2:00 pm 

Getting to School 

• Walking, rolling, and riding are encouraged and are the best way to get to school.
• Pick-up and drop-off parking is very limited
• Please do not park or get out of your car in the drive-through drop-off lane. The Tomsett system is for students to come, find their parents’ car, and get in. Cars are to keep moving forward in the drop-off lane. See the map for the exact instructions. 
• Daycare providers are asked to park along the fence in the staff parking area. 
• E-scooters. Please note that the legal age to ride an e-scooter is 16 years old. We kindly ask that e-scooters be dismounted upon entry to the school grounds and walked. We ask parents to review the safety and legal aspects of e-scooters for children under the age of 16. 

Wednesday, September 9   8:45 am – 2:45 am Regular day

• Bring your snacks, lunch, and water bottle. Please bring reusable containers for lunch and snacks. At lunchtime, students are expected to sit at their desks and eat quietly. We have three noon-hour supervisors who walk around the school to provide supervision during eating time and playtime. 

Please note: Kindergarten students will follow their specific gradual entry schedule for the remainder of the week. Please refer to the kindergarten-specific email package for those exact details
