A New Focus Emerging?

As we were progressing through the school year, a number of staff members were having disucssions (formally and informally) about students and their interactions with each other.  Our FESL (Framework for Enhacing Student Learning) was curious about how pervasive this issue was - were these episodes "one-offs" between students and the same students, or was there a wider, more complex issue?  We surveyed the staff, asking them to identify the issues that were coming to their attention, which students were bringing the issues forward.  To our surprise, we had a wide variety of issues being brought forward (most dealing with students interacting with one another and their inability to solve problems) and an even greater number of students than we had at first estimated.  Based on these findings, our group will undertake the Spirals of Inquiry cycle and determine some questions that will guide us in our decision making for the school.  The Spirals of Inquiry model is below for student / parent reference.
