Our New Focus

In late spring, we determined that our students were struggling with something more pertinent than self-asssessment.  This is not to say that the work that we undertook was not necessary or that we will dicontinue with student self assessment moving forward - only that there was a greater need for our community to address something more pressing.

Through our scanning, we came up with the following questions (K-7):

1. Why are our children unable to independently solve problems (inter-personal) with their peers?  We notice this most often during unstructured times (recess and lunch).

2. Why are our children relying so heavily on adults to solve problems for them?

3. What do students need to be able to solve problems independently?

4. Why is there such an over-reaction to situations / problems - not being able to recognize the size of the problem and the appropriate response required for a large number of our students K - 7?

Beginning in September 2019, we will shift our attention to these questions and will work through the Spirals of Inquiry as we implement various supports.
